When is the best time to visit Sicily?
April to June and September to October offer mild weather, soft light and fewer crowds. Spring brings almond blossom and wild flowers; autumn brings the grape harvest and warm seas. July and August are beautiful but hot, and better suited to the coast and the islands than to cities.
How long should you stay?
Seven to ten days allows two bases — typically Palermo for the west and a country house or Ortigia for the east — without spending your journey in transit. Five days is enough for one region explored in depth. We generally advise fewer places, chosen well: it is the unhurried rhythm that reveals the island.
